As we count down to Friday’s Opening Ceremonies in London, the 2012 Summer Olympic Games are on track to be some of the most expensive in history. Though the total budget is around $13 billion now (a 101% increase from the budget in London’s initial bid), researchers estimate the budget overrun could far exceed the average Olympic budget overrun we’ve seen over the last 50 years (179%).
