Be A Good Role Model For Your Kids With These Steps

Children learn more from our actions than our words, so being a good role model is very important when trying to be the best parent you can be. Little ones are always watching us and they take cues from our behavior. If you’re always polite, chances are your kids will be more likely to say “please” and “thank you” because it’s what they hear on a daily basis.
Want to model good behavior? Here are three things you can begin doing right now to be a good role model for your children:
1 – Take better care of your health.
Parents, especially moms, are used to taking care of others but tend to forget how important it is to take care of themselves. Start now by scheduling an annual checkup, improving your eating habits and implementing simple changes such as drinking more water. Also, check if your vaccinations are up to date, ask your doctor if you need any supplements and don’t forget to visit the dentist twice a year. This will teach your child that they need to prioritize their own health.
2 – Learn how to improve your financial fitness.
Reducing debt and increasing savings are two crucial steps to achieve financial health. They will also give you peace of mind and show your children that it’s irresponsible to just accumulate debt and live above your means. We also need to teach our children the importance of learning to save; kids tend to focus on immediate gratification and might think a credit card can get them whatever they want without realizing you need to pay for those things.
3 – Lead a more active lifestyle.
You can start with baby steps, perhaps walking around your neighborhood for 15 minutes, or having a daily dance off with your child. This also helps you become stronger and healthier for your kids!
Being a good role model means so much more than watching your words. Taking care of your own physical, emotional and financial wellbeing will teach your kids healthier habits that they can apply in all aspects of their lives.
